Letters to the Editor
Regarding the Fanaa controversy, those Gujaratis who oppose the views of actor Aamir Khan on the Narmada dam project have the right to refrain from seeing the movie. But they have no right to demand a ban on it thereby depriving those Gujaratis desirous of watching the film of their right to see it.
S. Shantharam,
What the BJP and the Gujarat Government have done is give Aamir Khan free publicity. A ban on the film will only encourage piracy; those wanting to watch the film will see it anyway on the small screen.
Aamir will have the last laugh. For, the loss from not showing the film in Gujarat will be more than compensated by "success" elsewhere.
Abdul Monim,
Intolerance has been institutionalised in Gujarat.
