Letters to the Editor
This refers to article `Through the looking glass in J&K' (May 29). The All Parties Hurriyat Conference's decision not to participate in the dialogue process indicates that it is remote-controlled by terrorist groups operating from Pakistan. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq's call for "political, diplomatic and military fronts" of the "Kashmiri resistance" to work "in unison" amounts to tacit support for the terrorist groups. The Centre should go ahead with the talks process involving other parties to the dispute and pressure Pakistan to dismantle the terrorist network.
It is an open secret that Pakistan continues to aid and abet the terrorist groups operating in the Kashmir Valley. The Indian Government, however, need not care about the non-participation of such groups in any talks on Kashmir. The basic purpose of the round table conference and other such initiatives is to end bloodshed in Jammu and Kashmir and the Government should focus on that.
