|
CHENNAI:
A section of doctors, medical students and members of various organisations under the banner of Campaign Committee for Reservation staged a demonstration on Sunday demanding the implementation of 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes in Central educational institutions of excellence from the current academic year.
According to committee convener G.R. Ravindranath, the Centre should promulgate an ordinance to implement the proposed policy without diluting its content. Doctors' Association for Social Equality vice-president A Seppan, treasurer T. Mohan, PG's association president Pon Raja Rajan and G. P. Sarathi of the Nationalist Congress Party were among those who took part in the protest held near Memorial Hall. Statewide rally and a demonstration by medical students, political parties and social justice organisations would be held on June 6.
