Demolition of houses built by the poor in Badvel town decried

KADAPA: CPI activists staged a rasta roko at the four-roads junction in Badvel on Monday, after Badvel CI Sriramulu and staff foiled their plans to stage dharna in front of the MRO office. CPI leader Venkatasubbaiah's shirt was torn in a scuffle between the CI and protesters.

Mr. Venkatasubbaiah alleged that officials were surveying and demolishing basements and houses built by poorer sections in Maruthinagar, Rickshaw Colony and Vidyanagar in Badvel town.

He decried uprooting of 30 huts in Vidyanagar and demanded house site pattas, pucca houses and ration cards as promised.

Senior CPI leader Abdul Khader decried the Circle Inspector's `highhandedness' in dealing with peaceful protesters.

He charged the Congress with implementing anti-people policies.

Sites demanded

Mydukur DSP Maheshwar Yadav, Badvel CI Sriramulu, Badvel MRO Gangulu Gopavaram MRO Prakash later held discussions with CPI district Secretary G. Obulesu and Mr. Venkatasubbaiah.

On being apprised by Badvel MRO, Rajampet RDO Ramachandra Reddy promised to allot house site pattas under Indira Prabha programmes during his visit to Badvel on June 5 following which the CPI gave up the stir.
