TD should introspect: Rosaiah

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has advised the Telugu Desam to introspect as to why it lost people's confidence in the previous election instead of levelling baseless allegations against the Congress.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Finance Minister K. Rosaiah and others said the absence of any in-depth discussion about the people's rejection of the TD in the previous Assembly election and the municipal and cooperative elections that followed reflected the party's lust for power. Ever since the defeat of the party, the TDP never tried to endear itself to the people and restricted itself to criticising the Congress.

"While the next elections are three years away, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu's claims that his party will come back to power showing his impatience," Mr. Rosaiah said. He wanted the TDP to "prove its strength"; if at all it existed, in the forthcoming panchayat elections before making charges against the Congress.

Stating that political parties were bound to face ups and downs, he wanted the TDP president not to lose his cool. "The resounding mandate the Congress got reflected the people's confidence in it and Mr. Naidu should realise this," he said.
