KOCHI: Kerala State Electricity Board's Vigilance, Anti-Power Theft Squad held a surprise inspection at the residence of Padmaja Venugopal, daughter of the Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) leader K. Karunakaran, here on Monday following complaints of power theft. Officials of the squad found that the electronic meter installed at Ms. Venugopal's residence was tampered with. Sources in the squad said that irregularities to the tune of Rs.one lakh were found out during the raid. Raids were also conducted in several other places as part of the move made by the squad to curb power theft and related offences in Ernakulam district. Officials of the squad will present their report before the authorities for follow-up action.
