Police seize seven fake credit cards

CHENNAI: A South Korean national was arrested on Sunday on charges of cheating and forgery. The police seized seven fake credit cards and a forged passport from the accused. He was later remanded.

Two accomplices

According to the Teynampet police, Kim Jaehce (25), landed in Bangalore from Singapore last week. He, along with two accomplices, came to Chennai on May 27.

He got into trouble after shopping at two hotels in the city using the credit cards, buying two Rolex watches, worth nearly Rs. 5 lakh, from two shops belonging to the same owner.

Alert shop owner

The shop owner alerted the bank's vigilance officer who verified that the cards were fake and later lodged a complaint, said an official.

The police arrested Kim from one of the hotels though they were not able to prevent the other two from escaping with the watches.

The case will be transferred to the cyber crime cell of the city police for further investigation.
