Free tokens
Bartronics, a crowd and time management company that introduced the Sudharshan Chakra system at Tirumala, volunteered to offer the tokens free of cost. Some 400 persons could be slotted in one hour for administering the medicine and more if necessary, a company representative said. The token system to allow people choose a convenient hour for taking fish medicine was an optional one and the counters for `chakras' would function from June 4 to 7 from 8 a.m to 8 p.m., the Collector said. Of eight medicine dispensation counters to be run by the Bathini members, separate entrances would be provided for VIPs, token holders and the physically-challenged. Issuance of passes would be centralised and handled by the Revenue Department and CCTVs for better monitoring of crowd would be set up, he said.
Fish supply
The Fisheries Department would supply 1.25 lakh murrel and they would be supplied through 33 counters at Rs.10 each. No movement of beggars would be allowed near the venue, he added. Joint Collector V.Anil Kumar said some 8 lakh people were expected and with coordination of the Municipal Corporation, RTC, Transco, Revenue, Police and others, arrangements were being made. Health and hygiene was being accorded top priority. Shamianas, drinking water sachets, medical camps, toilets, special RTC services from the airport and railway station would be provided.
Admission slips
He said that all patients would have to take admission slips before entering the queue, buy Murrel fish to be handed over to a Bathini family member for administering the medicine. Central Zone DCP Madhusudhan Reddy said 1,000 policemen would be deployed to work in shifts. Bathini Harinath Goud said the 161-year-old fish medicine should be taken continuously for three to four years for good relief. Referring to the controversy about its efficacy, he said laboratory reports made it clear that fish medicine did not have steroids or harmful heavy metals.
