MADURAI: The Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Textbook Corporation, Ashok Dongre, reviewed the distribution of free textbooks in schools with School Education Department officials from 11 districts, here on Saturday. According to officials, Mr. Dongre directed the authorities to ensure that every student got textbooks in time in all Government and aided schools. During the two-hour interaction, he sought particulars from District Educational Officers (DEO), District Elementary Educational Officers (DEEO) and senior officials on how the distribution process was carried out in the past two weeks. In every district, textbooks were being supplied to schools and headmasters would, in turn, distribute them to students when schools reopened after vacation on June 1, authorities said. The DEOs and DEEOs from Madurai, Tirunelveli, Tiruchi, Dindigul, Karur, Sivaganga, Theni, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts attended the meeting. K. Sridevi, District Chief Educational Officer, explained the arrangements made in Madurai district to dispatch textbooks to schools.
