One-stroke lead for Rudresh Sharma

BANGALORE: Delhi's Rudresh Sharma topped the field in the `A' section of the Bangalore Golf Club Junior & Sub-Junior tournament, which teed off at the BGC here on Tuesday. Rudresh returned a card of three over 73 to lead by one stroke over Rahul Bakshi of Chandigarh. The tournament is the first event of this year's Indian Golf Union's categorised matches.

Rudresh had three birdies, two bogeys and two double bogeys on his first round. On the first nine holes Rudresh managed to play to par but his back nine was marred by some bad driving. His double bogeys on the 11th and 15th were the major blemishes in his card.

The results (first round): `A' Category (15-17 years): Rudresh Sharma (73), Rahul Bakshi (74), Pradyumna Prakash , C.G Somiah, Jaibir Singh and Preetam Haridass (76) each, Amanjyot Singh and Karan Bir Singh (77) each.

`B' category (13-14 years): Rommel Majumdar (75), Chikkarangappa (77), Anish Gupta (78), Akash Vats, Ali Akmal Jan and Khalin Joshi (83) each, Wasim Khan and Prafful Chand (85) each.

`C' Category (11-12 years): Ankur Chaddha (76), Rahul Ravi, Ashbeer Singh and Roshan Raj (85) each, Trishul Chinnappa (86), Saqib Ahmed (87).
