Staff Correspondent
HUBLI: Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation has appealed to the public not to panic over reports of Chikungunya and clarified that the disease does not lead to death. In a release here, the corporation's Chief Health Officer has clarified that Chikungunya was in no way related to the bird flu and was not connected to chickens. Chikungunya is a viral fever spread by mosquito called Aedes Aegypti. The mosquito breeds by laying eggs on unused clean water stored for days together, he said. The press release has suggested precautions to be taken by the people to prevent the disease such as emptying water containers at least once in three days. Members of the public can call the corporation control room (ph: 2213888 or 1913) for more tips.
