Transfer orders issued to 555 teachers in Gulbarga and Yadgir

Special Correspondent

The transferred teachers have not yet been relieved of their duties

  • Transfer orders have been issued to 223 teachers in Gulbarda education district
  • One reason for the poor performance of these districts in the SSLC exams is a shortage of teachers
  • The dropout rate in primary schools in Gulbarga and Yadgir education districts is one of the highest in the State

GULBARGA: The State Government has issued orders for the transfer of 555 high school and primary school teachers in government schools in Gulbarga and Yadgir education districts .

According to information available here on Tuesday, while transfer orders have been issued to 223 teachers working in high schools and primary schools in Gulbarga education district, transfer orders have been issued to 332 teachers in Yadgir education district.

The transferred teachers have not yet been relieved of their duties, as arrangements are to be made for substitute teachers. The large-scale transfer of teachers is expected to worsen the situation of shortage of teachers in government schools in Yadgir and Gulbarga education districts.

What was surprising is that these transfers have been sanctioned at the time when people are discussing the poor performance of these two districts in the SSLC examination. Many government schools in the two education districts have achieved the dubious distinction of zero per cent pass in the SSLC examination.

Some reasons given by the Government and the Education Department for the low pass percentage in government schools in the SSLC examination every year is the shortage of teachers and lack of infrastructure. The dropout rate in primary schools in Gulbarga and Yadgir education districts is one of the highest in the State. The Hyderabad Karnataka Horata Samiti has protested against the large-scale transfer of teachers .
