Junior doctors boycott work

Staff Correspondent

BIJAPUR: Members of the BLDE Association's B.M. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre Junior Doctors' Association continued their relay hunger strike for the sixth day on Tuesday. They are opposing Union Government's proposal to provide quota for Other Backward Classes in higher educational institutions.

They remained absent from duty, as a result of which service in the out-patient wards was hit.

Nearly 600 patients visit the out-patient wards a day.

The protesting doctors held street-plays at places such as Gandhi Chowk and Siddeshwar Temple to highlight the adverse impact of reservation in higher education. Association secretary Anirudh Kulkarni and its members areparticipating in the strike.
