4 killed in fresh Kashmir attacks

SRINAGAR: At least four people, including a policeman, were killed and nine injured in renewed militant attacks in Jammu and Kashmir since Monday.

Militants tossed two grenades in Srinagar city killing one policeman and injuring seven. Witnesses said they hurled a grenade into a police Gypsy near Iqbal Park and it exploded injuring five policemen. Later, one of them succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Another grenade was thrown at a security picket in Batamaloo. Four persons were injured in the incident.

Police said one IED was recovered from a mosque in Karan Nagar and a major tragedy was averted. The IED was later defused. In Amirabad Tral in South Kashmir three militants were killed in a gun battle with the security forces.
