THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Labour and Excise Minister P. K. Gurudasan has said that Special Economic Zones (SEZs) cannot claim immunity from labour laws. Mr. Gurudasan said the LDF Government did not believe in giving exemption from labour laws to Special Economic Zones. "It is incorrect to say that the industries in Special Economic Zones can function smoothly only if they are exempt from labour laws. We do not approve of such policy," he said. There was no dispute over the fact that the IT industry must grow in the State and that investors in the IT sector must be offered maximum protection. The LDF Government would adopt policies that would ensure good labour relations in the IT sector, he said.
