Aditya, Shruthi reign

BANGALORE: Aditya Prakash and Shruthi Sridhar recorded contrasting title wins in the W. Suresh Kumar memorial State junior ranking badminton championship here on Tuesday.

Prakash, who ran up an early lead, kept the pressure on his rival Rishiket right through the tie and won 21-13, 21-15 to claim the boys' under-16 title. Shruthi defeated Ankitha Ashok 22-20, 14-21, 21-17 in the girls' under-16 final. She also completed a fine double by teaming up with Adfa Taqvi to win the doubles title.

In the under-13 section, Vinay Hari and Tanya Ravi won the boys' and girls' titles respectively. The results (all finals):

Boys: U-16 singles: Aditya R. Prakash bt Rishiket Yellegi 21-13, 21-15. Doubles: B. Nithin/M.D. Anup Kiran bt Prakash Jolly/Pratap Menon 21-14, 2 1-14. U-13 singles: Vinay Hari bt Himanshu Kotbagi 21-17, 21-16. Doubles: Himanshu Kotbagi/Rajas Jawalkar bt Chirag/Vinay Hari 21-18, 21-18. U-10 singles: Suraj Shetty bt Nachiket Damankar 21-14, 21-12. Girls: U-16 singles: Shruthi Sridhar bt Ankitha Ashok 22-20, 14-21, 21-17. Doubles: Shruthi Sridhar/Adfa Taqvi bt Jacqueline/Devaki Menon 21-14, 21-9. U-13 singles: Tanya Ravi bt Aswaitha Ravi 21-8, 21-8.

Gabba is champion

Girish Gabba emerged as champion in the State ten pin bowling championship. In the final, Gabba prevailed over Vinay Punjabi 399-375. Anil, with the highest score of 247 and Hiren, with the best average of 209, won special awards.

Infosys wins title

Infosys bagged the title in the Kingfisher Corporate 5s football tournament with a thumping 7-0 win over Tesco in the final. Darryl dazzled for the winning team, slotting in four goals. Fidelity won the KF Plate event with a 1-0 win over Cognizant. Yokogawa team won the Fairplay award.

Kabaddi tournament

Young Pioneers SC will organise the all-India `A' grade kabaddi tournament at the RPC Layout, Vijayanagar from Wednesday. The tourney has attracted 20 top teams in the men's section including Punjab Police, BSF, ICF and Eastern Railway and 16 teams in the women's section.

The tournament will be a league-cum-knock-out affair. There will be an all-India examination for referees during the tournament.

Softball tournament

Black Sox Softball Club will conduct a State-level tournament at Jayanagar VII Block grounds on June 3 and 10. For details, contact K. Dilip at 94483-64673.
