Elections to the Legislative Council from Bangalore graduates' constituency

Bangalore: Five candidates filed their nomination papers on Tuesday for elections to the Legislative Council from the Bangalore graduates' constituency. The constituency comprises areas coming under the jurisdiction of the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike and Bangalore Urban and Bangalore Rural districts.

Among those who filed their nomination papers were Communist Party of India (Marxist) nominee K.S. Lakshmi and All-India Progressive Janata Dal candidate D.N. Nataraj. Three independents, including K.V. Chandrasekhar, a film personality, also filed their nomination papers. CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat was present when Ms. Lakshmi filed her papers. Several film personalities accompanied Mr. Chandrasekhar.

Wednesday is the last day for filing nominations. Eleven candidates have filed their papers so far.
