Tributes paid to Maharana Pratap

NEW DELHI: Delhi Mayor Farhad Suri paid rich and garlanded his statue at Qudsia Bagh here on Tuesday to mark the birth anniversary of the brave warrior-king.

"Maharana Pratap was a great warrior who waged a long battle against the Mughal empire", he said.

Human chain for the sake of environment

NEW DELHI: The World Environment Foundation in association with several international organisations will launch a "Global Human Chain" here on June 5, World Environment Day.

The Foundation will also be organising the 8th World Congress on Environment Management together with the World Council for Corporate Governance and Centre for Social Responsibility at Palampur in Himachal Pradesh from June 9 to 11.

The theme of the congress will be "Partnership to Prevent Climate Change".

Legal team heads

for China

NEW DELHI: The China Law Society and the Bar Association of India (BAI) are organising a two-day Joint Conference at Beijing beginning June 5. This is the first time such an interaction among legal professionals is taking place between the two countries.

BAI Vice-President K.K. Venugopal is leading the 12-member Indian delegation that has been selected from different parts of the country.

The delegation will visit Chinese legal authorities in Beijing and Shanghai.

Road repair project inaugurated

NEW DELHI: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief and Rohtas Nagar MLA Ram Babu Sharma on Tuesday inaugurated a Rs. 80-lakh project for repair and renovation of 11 streets, drains and roads at Ashok Nagar Extension.

He said the project would be completed in four months.

Mr. Sharma conducted a survey of East Jyoti Nagar, Hardeshpuri and Ashok Nagar areas and listened to the problems of the residents. 00

He instructed the officials concerned to address their problems without delay.

Streetscaping works launched

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Secretary S. Regunathan on Tuesday launched "Streetscaping Works" to be undertaken by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) at Mother Teresa Crescent. The main features of streetscaping will include beautification and improvement of the visual quality of various NDMC roads, providing street furniture, public conveniences and signs.

Mr. Regunathan also released a book containing a road map for the streetscaping of NDMC roads.
