Woman constable ends life
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI:
A 24-year-old woman constable consumed poison at the Avadi Regimental Centre on Tuesday. She was taken to the Kilpauk Medical College where she was declared `brought dead.'
Jnana Daisy Rani, attached to the Manimuthar `E' company (9th battalion) had come to the Regimental Centre five months ago.
According to officials, the deceased had asked for a day's leave to go to her native place in Tirunelveli. However, she came back only on Tuesday, 10 days later. "Even today she did not report for duty. She went to her barracks, talked to friends and vomited around noon. We took her to the KMC. The doctors said she would have consumed rat poison," said an official.
