Market for unique creations

OUR RURAL artisans have creative skills passed down the generations. Some were in danger of dying out before some organisations discovered and nurtured the craftspersons and found urban markets for their unique creations.

"A Bit of Sunday" was one such event that had created "The Village Craft Show" here, displaying Lambani textiles, Madhubani paintings and terracotta pottery items.

A highlight of the show was the traditional jewellery worn by Lambani women, brought here by Janaseva Vidya Kendra from Bijapur.

The cloth pouches the women make with intricate mirror work could well become a fashion among collegians. The Regional Handicrafts Centre had also a stall at the event held in Indiranagar.
