HOW IT WORKS: Master Franchisee Savitha (right) demonstrating the use of abacus to children in Bangalore on Wednesday. Photo: V. Sreenivasa Murthy
Bangalore: The State team of Ideal Play Abacus India Pvt. Ltd. won the "Best Master Franchisee," four "Best Franchisee" and four "Best Teacher" awards at the recently concluded second national-level competition 2006 held in Chennai. The competition was conducted by Ideal Play Abacus India Pvt. Ltd., which is affiliated to a Malaysian company, Play Abacus, and has ISO certification from the British Standards Institute and a premier achievement certification from the Chinese Abacus Association. The promoters behind the training explain that the human brain can be divided into two. The left side of the brain is linear and logical, the right brain intuitive. When confronted with problems, the left side, being logical, reasons out how intense the problem will be and allows that to prevail on the mind.
Right side
The right side of the brain is not logical but creative and finds new ways to find a solution by being able to visualise the final result. The abacus method takes advantage of these aspects of the human brain.
