Six-member ADR team brings duo to city from Mumbai

  • Police file petition seeking remand of Vinod and Ajay for 15 days
  • Accused persons taken back to Chanchalguda jail
  • Two accused were polite during journey, says police official

HYDERABAD: The third Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on Wednesday remanded Vinod Ramboli Singh, the mastermind behind the Rs. 6 crores Alukkas jewellery heist and his aide Ajay Jawahar Singh, to judicial custody till June 13.

A six-member ADR team led by Inspector K. Chandrasekhar Reddy brought them to the city from Mumbai by the Hussainsagar Express on Wednesday afternoon and produced them in the court at Nampally. The police brought them to the city after filing a prisoner transit warrant in a court at Mumbai.

    Petition filed

The police also filed a petition in the court at Nampally seeking police remand of Vinod and Ajay for 15 days. When the magistrate asked him whether he had any objections in remanding them to police custody, Vinod replied: "It's your wish."

The magistrate then reserved the orders for Thursday. The accused persons were later taken back to Chanchalguda jail.

A police official, who escorted Vinod and Ajay from Mumbai, said Vinod never behaved in an arrogant manner. "They were polite all along the journey. In fact, Vinod told our constables that he used to travel in Ford Ikon and Skoda cars, as he was fond of high-class cars," the official said.

Vinod also recounted his visit to the city along with his associate. They took a room in a lodge at Nampally and stayed for 14 days before striking at the jewellery shop on May 16.
