BANGALORE: Burglars struck at an engineer's house in Subramanyapura police station limits on Tuesday and made away with gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 2.75 lakh. The police said the incident took place at Shubha Arun's house in Bank Officers' Colony in Doddakallasandra. Around 2.30 p.m., Ms. Shubha left her home to attend to her ailing mother at a hospital on Airport Road. When she returned home at 8.30 p.m., she found that thieves had entered the house by breaking open the main door and made away with 275 grams of gold jewellery from a wardrobe. On a complaint from Ms. Shubha, the Subramanyapura police have registered a case.
Shop burgled
In another incident, thieves made away with three cameras, together estimated at Rs. 1 lakh, from a camera showroom on Rajarammohun Roy Road on Tuesday night. The police said the thieves entered the shop by breaking open the rolling shutters. On a complaint by the proprietor of the shop, Vishwas, the Sampangiramnagar police have registered a case.
Cash stolen
Gold jewellery estimated at Rs. 3 lakh and Rs. 10,000 in cash were found missing from a businessman's house in Sanjaynagar police station limits. According to a complaint filed by Mukul Kumar, a resident of M.S.R. Nagar, his wife had been to Bihar a month ago. She returned on Tuesday and found that the gold jewellery and cash, which were in a cupboard, were missing. Mr. Kumar and his cook were at the house when his wife was away, the police said. The Sanjaynagar police have registered a case.
Bid to steal sandalwood
Thieves felled two sandal wood trees in different places in the city and attempted to steal the logs in the early hours of Wednesday. The police said attempts to steal the sandalwood trees were made in BEL Colony in Jalahalli police station limits and at SBM Colony in Anandanagar in Hebbal police station limits.
Woman stabbed
Three men stabbed Vanitha (27), vice-president of a women's multi-purpose cooperative society, at her office in Wilson Garden police station limits on Wednesday afternoon. The police said that around 12.30 p.m., three men came to society's office on Lalbagh Road, stabbed her in her arms and legs with a knife and ran away.
