One-stroke lead for Bakshi

BANGALORE: Rahul Bakshi's lead in the Bangalore Golf Club junior and sub-junior tournament has been reduced to just one stroke. The Chandigarh youngster had a three over 73 in the penultimate round while Jaipur's Amanjyot Singh carded two under, putting him in a position to launch a strong challenge in the `A' category on the final day.

Bakshi's poor driving once again put him under pressure. Seven bogeys (four on the first nine and three on the return) ruined his card. An eagle on the 12th, where the ball spun back from eight feet after overshooting the pin, and birdies on the eighth and 18th gave him the lead.

Singh had birdies on the fifth, eighth, 13th and 14th but his two bogeys on the ninth and 12th placed him second on the leaderboard.

In the `B' category, Chikkarangappa ran up an eight-stroke lead with a card of three over 73.
