A movement to spread English fluency to rural areas

CHENNAI: Vivekananda English Training Academy (VETA) has launched a country-wide home study initiative to extend its modules on English fluency to rural areas where the aspirations to learn effective communication are as high as in urban centres though the opportunities are scant.

The `VETA Reach' is being launched as a movement to spread English fluency as a way of celebrating the academy's 25th anniversary.

The students will gain self-employment by distributing the 60-card packs and audio cassette/CD kits brought out for the initiative.

Now available in nine Indian languages, these modules will soon be brought out in other languages as well.

V. Rajagopalan, VETA chairman and principal, and K. V. Rajan, executive director, explained their plans for expanding their network to around 300 centres in the country in the next two years.

VETA's student profile is predominantly in the 18-26 age group, though people of all ages seek its expertise.

VETA's Chennai office can be reached at 044-24341164.
