Environment Day contests

GUNTUR: The Guntur regional unit of the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) is conducting various competitions for schoolchildren in connection with the World Environment Day on June 5.

According to APPCB Environmental Engineer D. Ravindra Babu, competitions would be conducted in essay writing, drawing, elocution, slogan-writing and singing (solo). The competitions will be conducted at NTR Municipal Stadium in Brindavan Gardens on June 3 from10 am onwards.

The topic for the competition is `Do not turn dry lands into deserts'. The students should get their own drawing materials and only drawing sheets would be supplied. The time limit for various competitions is as follows: drawing-90 minutes, elecution-5 minutes and essay writing and slogan writing-60 minutes.

Only songs related to environment are allowed in the singing competition.The first, second and third prize winners will be awarded at a special function on the World Environment Day.
