CHENNAI: With B.T. Murali Krishnan assured of the title, he drew the final round against C. Praveen Kumar of Chennai and this enabled the latter to take the runner-up spot in the State Fide-rated chess championship. Murali Krishnan was awarded the V.J. Brahmaiah Rolling Shield and Rs. 30,000 prize money. At the prize distribution function, K. Pandiarajan, chairman and managing director, MA FOI, honoured young achievers World under-12 champion N. Srinath, National under-15 champion S.P. Sethuraman, National under-13 champion B. Adibhan and National under-7 champion M. Mahalakshmi. T. Devanathan, chairman and managing director WIN TV, distributed prizes. Final placings: B.T. Muralikrishnan (S. Rly) 10 points; C. Praveen Kumar (Chennai) 9; M. Shyam Sundar (Chennai) 9; Syed Anwar Shazuli (Kanchi) 8.5; G.B. Prakash (IB) 8.5; B. Adhiban (Chennai) 8.5; Babu N. Sudhakar (IB) 8.5; Sharma R. Preetham (S. Rly) 8; P.
