Staff Correspondent

Centre will reinstate doctors whose services have been terminated

NEW DELHI : Additional Solicitor-General Gopal Subramaniam on Thursday submitted a memorandum before the Supreme Court saying medicos had called off their anti-reservation strikes and restored medical services.

Mr. Subramaniam told a vacation Bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and C. K. Thakker that as per the court's orders, the Centre would reinstate doctors whose services had been terminated during the agitation. The Centre kept a channel of communication open for any representation.

Copy forwarded

A copy of the court's order on Wednesday asking the medicos to call off their strike was forwarded to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and the Chief Secretaries of all States and Union Territories.

Following Mr. Subramaniam's request to ensure compliance with the court's orders, the Health Ministry directed the heads of central medical institutions to communicate its directive to the medicos.
