MARCHING AHEAD: CPI(M) leader B.V. Raghavulu carrying a fishing net at a rally of artisans at Nakrekal in Nalgonda district on Thursday.
NAKREKAL (NALGONDA): The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Secretary B.V.Raghavulu has advised the State Government to go for panchayat elections only after issuing ration cards for poor in the State. "The process of issuance of ration cards is going on a very slow pace. If the Election Commission issues notification on 7th, the process will come to a halt. Hence, as there is time till July 25 to conduct elections, ration cards must be issued first,'' he told reporters here on Thursday. He was here to flag off the `Cheti Vruttidaarula Chaitanya Yatra' spearheaded by the party's floor leader in the Assembly Nomula Narasimhaiah.
On MPP appointments
He said that the party would write a letter to Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy in this regard. Mr.Raghavulu pointed out some lacuna in finalizing reservations for the posts of Mandal Praja Parishad presidents. "They (officials) have not followed basic rules while finalizing the reservations. These faults should be rectified.'' The party had formally decided to fight for 170 ZPTC posts and 1700 MPTC posts, he added.
He confirmed that there were two rounds of consultations between the two Communist parties. "We will again meet on June 5, if the local problems are not solved at the district level," he said.
