NEW DELHI: Delhi Urban Development Minister A.K. Walia has issued instructions for shifting the existing central verge by 3.5 metres towards the right side on the proposed alignment of the Inderlok-Mundka Delhi Metro rail route along Rohtak Road. Explaining the reason for the change, Dr. Walia said the decision had been taken keeping in mind the future widening of Rohtak Road. The shifting of the central verge would help in proper alignment of the road making it possible to widen it from six to eight-lane carriageway. It would also be possible to provide bus-bays in addition to eight-lane carriageway on this road. Dr. Walia said that on right side of the road, a patch of about 6 metres land was lying un-utilised making it prone to encroachment. Dr. Walia said the Government was ready to release an additional amount of Rs.70 crore, if required, to enable the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation to take up work relating to widening of Rohtak Road and shifting the alignment of the Metro Rail route and stations. He said all possible help including financial support to make the Inderlok-Mundka Metro route more aesthetic and widening of Rohtak Road on National Highway-10 would be made available.
