AAI observes Anti-Tobacco Day

T.S. Shankar

CHENNAI: After kicking off an Anti-Tobacco Day campaign organised by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Wednesday, Chennai Airport Director Dinesh Kumar spotted a youth on the corridor leading to the Kamaraj Domestic Terminal lighting up. He immediately urged the youth not to do so.

"Initially, the youth did not relish the advice, but later assured me that he would give up smoking," the airport Director said.

CCTV monitors throughout the terminals aired messages that said, "Anti-Tobacco Day. Please observe it every day for your health."

The AAI also campaigned the cause among the travelling public and its staff with the message, "Sir/Madam. Today is Anti-Tobacco Day. Smoking is injurious to health. Please do not smoke."
