Xansa conducts summer camp at Mambakkam

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: A month-long summer camp was conducted at the Government School at Mambakkam, which is supported by Xansa, a multinational software company in Chennai.

Lessons on basic computer operations and English were conducted for children from the Mambakkam school and the village. A few housewives from the village also attended the classes. Xansa, as part of its corporate social responsibility activities, had set up a computer lab at the school and rural knowledge centres during its tsunami rehabilitation programme. The participating students did do not study computer science in their school curriculum.

Xansa awarded merit certificates to all participants who successfully completed the programme.

The company had earlier held computer classes at Bhuvana Krishnan Higher Secondary School, a 10-day programme for students from classes 8 to 10 who did not have computer studies as part of their school curriculum.

A training programme on computer skills was held on the Xansa Chennai campus to help villagers understand and use computers.

This effort will enable them to access the Internet at the rural knowledge centres to gather data.
