KHAMMAM: The Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas (APGV) Bank has proposed to open 45 new branches in its area of operation, covering eight districts, said bank chairman Anantakrishnan today. Addressing a news conference here, he said that the bank, which came into existence with the amalgamation of five SBI sponsored regional rural banks in the State, had proposed to shift some of the branches to new premises to improve ambience and extend improvised customer service. He informed that all the branches would be brought under the uniform software system while taking up computerisation of 189 branches, still left out in a phased manner.
Insurance cover
The bank had planned to extend insurance cover to both the depositors and borrowers under the SBI life scheme with a very low insurance premium. The bank would also provide the facility of issuing bankers cheques and demand drafts payable at Hyderabad. The discretionary powers of the branches and the controlling area offices would also be increased to facilitate quick disposal of loan proposals. He said that the bank would have a share of 18 per cent in the implementation of the credit plan in eight districts - Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Khammam, Nalgonda, Warangal, Medak and Mahabubnagar. The bank would also encourage investment credit especially for drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation schemes. The bank would also encourage horticulture crops and medicinal plants.
