Treating sinusitis

CHENNAI: City-based ENT surgeons now have recourse to a special endoscopic surgery which can be used to treat sinusitis.

Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) is one of the more recent methods of treatment of nose and sinus diseases. It will also cover other ENT conditions including nasal block, running nose, sneezing, headache and nasal polyps, according to Ravi Ramalingam, Managing Director, KKR ENT Hospital.

FESS is a scar-less surgery with minimal blood loss. FESS works by restoring ventilation and drainage of the sinus, the diseased mucosa reverts to a normal, healthy state. KKR Hospital is offering the surgery at its centre on Poonamallee High Road, Kilpauk (26411444/26411987).
