The victims were waylaid a few metres from their house

BANGALORE: Four men attacked a private bank employee and his brother and robbed them of Rs. 30,000 in cash, a gold chain and a mobile phone in Jnana Bharathi police station limits on Wednesday night.

The police said that around 10.30 p.m., Nagesh, a bank employee, and his brother Dushyanth, a student, were on their way to their house at Vinayaka Layout in Nagarabhavi II Stage.

A few metres away from their house, four men waylaid the two brothers who were riding a motorcycle. They hit Nagesh and Dushyanth with empty beer bottles. After Dushyanth managed to escape, the robber hit Nagesh on the head with a bottle and robbed him of Rs. 30,000, a gold chain and a mobile phone, the police said. On a complaint by Dushyanth, the Jnana Bharathi police have registered a case.

House burgled

Burglars struck at a software engineer's house in Nandini Layout police station limits on Wednesday night and made away with a camera, a VCD player and other articles.

The police said the theft took place at H.R. Ravi's house in 3rd Cross, Ramakrishna Nagar, Nandini Layout, when he had been to his in-laws' house in Jayanagar. The Nandini Layout police have registered a case.

Job racket busted

The Mahadevapura police have arrested two persons, who had allegedly cheated an engineering graduate by promising a job in a leading software company.

The names of the arrested were given as S.L.N. Swamy (28) of Hosaguddadahalli and Pankaj (26) of M.S.R. Nagar. Swamy worked in a job consultancy firm run by Pankaj on Sampige Road in Malleswaram.

Claiming to be an executive of a leading software company, Swamy had allegedly conducted interviews for the posts of software engineers.

He had allegedly demanded Rs. 2.50 lakh from B.K. Santosh Kumar of HRBR Layout, who had attended the interview, and promised him a job, the police said.

Suspecting Swamy's credentials, Santosh lodged a complaint with the Mahadevapura police on May 29. Acting on the complaint, the police arrested Swamy and Pankaj and seized from them fake appointment letters of the software company they had created.
