Member of attention diversion gang arrested

HYDERABAD:
The Hyderabad Detective Department on Thursday arrested Saravanan, 37, an alleged member of the Tamil Nadu based attention diversion gang responsible for the thefts at ICICI Bank's Punjagutta branch and the SBH Dilsukhnagar branch. An amount of Rs. 6 lakhs was recovered from him, according to a press release.
A special team led by ACP S. Vishwanatham traced the gang to Ramginagar of Tiruchi district in Tamil Nadu. The police team picked up Saravanan from a bus stop at Ramginagar. The accused confessed to police that one Palaniappan was leader of his gang and committed the two thefts with six other associates. A hunt is on for the other members of the gang.
