Project for village roads under study

Bagalur-Budigere Road opened; Sangliana promises to show same commitment for all projects

BANGALORE: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy said on Thursday that the Government was examining a working project for improving major village roads in Bangalore district at a cost of Rs. 66 crore.

He said separate managing grants had been released for various development works in Bangalore Rural and Urban districts under the 12th Finance Commission, in his speech read out by Minister for Youth Services and Sports Alkod Hanumanthappa during the opening of the reconstructed Bagalur Road.

Emphasis

Stating that the Government was concentrating on improving roads, Mr. Kumaraswamy said special emphasis would be laid on Chief Minister's Village Road Improvement Project and "road and culvert improvement project" in Bangalore district.

The Chief Minister complimented Bangalore North Lok Sabha Member H.T. Sangliana for his efforts to rebuild Bagalur Road under the MP's Local Area Development Scheme. He said Mr. Sangliana had secured the maximum amount (Rs. 1.25 crore) being provided by the Centre for the reconstruction of the 12.5-km road.Devanahalli MLA G. Chandranna presided over the programme.
