THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has called upon the youth to defend the unity and integrity of the nation. Mr. Balakrishnan, who took the salute at the passing-out parade of the 109th batch of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Pallipuram on Thursday, said cross-border terrorism and infiltration were posing a threat despite the peace initiatives taken by the Government. As many as 348 recruits joined the force on Thursday. The Minister lauded the role of the CRPF in safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation. Whenever the State was in need of supplementing its police force, the CRPF had been the first choice, he said. Training centre principal P.G. Gopinathan Nair explained the modern techniques and weapons introduced into the force recently.
