University of Kerala

UGC aid: The University Grants Commission (UGC) will provide the seed money to set up unaided vocational degree courses in affiliated colleges. Proposals for this can be sent to the UGC as per the revised norms for such assistance that will be given for the academic year 2006-07. Further details can be had from the UGC's website www.ugc.ac.in.

Applications invited: The Bangalore office of the UGC has invited applications from colleges for providing financial assistance for major and minor research projects, seminars, workshops and academic conferences. New colleges and colleges in backward areas can apply for development funds. Applications from colleges left out from the general college development projects will also be considered under this scheme. Details can be had from the UGC website. Applications from affiliated colleges under the university should reach the director of the College Development Council before July 8.

Viva: The viva voce of the sixth semester BA Communicative English examinations held in April will be conducted at All Saints College, Thiruvananthapuram, on June 5 and 6, at Iqbal College Peringamala, SD College, Alappuzha, and SN College, Punalur, on June 5. The viva will be held from 9.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m.

Research assistance: Scheduled Castes (SC)/Scheduled Tribes (ST) students who have registered for full-time research under the University of Kerala will be given a special assistance of Rs.10,000 for books, stationery and for typing charges. Those who have submitted the thesis and those who have received aid under this programme before need not apply. Further details and the application form can be had from the SC/ST cell of the university's planning section.

Certificate course: Applications have been invited for the one-year, part-time certificate course at the Department of German. The course fee is Rs.200 and the caution deposit Rs.100. Applications must be submitted before June 21 to the head of the department. Further details can be had from the department.

Refresher course: Applications have been invited for the refresher course in history scheduled at Academic Staff College from August 12 to September 2. Applications can be submitted till June 26. For details, contact the college on phone 0471 2418989.

MLT results: The results of the B.Sc./MLT regular course examinations held in March have been published. Applications for revaluation and scrutiny can be submitted till June 10.
