Metro announces new fares for feeder buses

Staff Reporter

Does away with uniform rate of Rs. 5 per trip

NEW DELHI: Doing away with the uniform rate of Rs. 5 per trip on RTV feeder buses, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation on Thursday declared that in order to benefit short-distance passengers on these buses which provide connectivity to Delhi Metro stations, it has come up with a differential fare structure on the lines of the Delhi Transport Corporation structure.

As such, against the uniform rate of Rs. 5 earlier, the new fares now will be Rs. 2, Rs. 5, Rs. 7 and Rs. 10 for adults depending on the distance travelled. The distance slabs have been decided on multiples of 4 km. So between 0 and 4 km the fare will be Rs. 2 for adults and Re. 1 for children; over 4-8 km it will be Rs. 5 for adults and Rs. 3 for children; between 8 and 12 km the fare will be Rs. 7 and Rs. 4; and over 12 km, it will be Rs. 10 and Rs. 5 for adults and children, respectively.

DMRC said it was in the process of notifying the new fare structure that would come into effect soon. At present, it said, 147 RTV buses connect stations of Delhi Metro's Line-1. These buses operate on 30 routes approved by the State Transport Authority. And on Barakhamba-Dwarka Sub-City Line-3, 36 RTV feeder routes have been approved on which 96 RTVs are plying.

Besides these Metro RTV feeder buses, which bear the same colour (silver) as Metro trains and have the Metro logo on them, DMRC said DTC was also operating feeder services on more than 30 routes on Line-1. DTC is also running an inter-State feeder bus service between Dwarka Sector-9 station and Gurgaon bus stand.

DTC has also made slight alterations in the routes of two of its buses so that these now touch Dwarka Sector-9 station. While one of these buses travels from Dwarka Sector-23 to New Delhi railway station Gate No.1 via Dwarka Sector-9 Metro station, the others move from Indira Gandhi International Airport to Inderlok Metro station via Dwarka Sector-9 Metro station.
