Hemlata Rao passes away

Hemlata Rao

BANGALORE: Hemlata Rao, 59, economist and professor at the Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore, passed away at her residence in Vijayanagar here on Thursday night of cardiac arrest. She leaves her husband, Gopinath, and a daughter.

Prof. Rao joined ISEC in 1974. She was head of the Sales Tax Chair at the institute. She obtained her MA in economics from S.D. College, Meerut University, in 1968 and a doctorate from Delhi University in 1975.
