Koirala to visit India

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Nepal Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala will pay an official visit to India from June 6 to 9 at the invitation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the External Affairs Ministry said on Friday. "The Prime Minister will be accompanied by a delegation comprising Ministers of the new Government and business representatives," the Ministry said. Mr. Koirala, who became Prime Minister on April 30 following the restoration of democracy in Nepal, will be making his first visit abroad.

"The visit will provide the opportunity for discussing the entire gamut of issues between our two countries," the statement added. Soon after Mr. Koirala became Prime Minister, Dr. Singh telephoned the veteran Nepali leader and invited him to India.

Indian officials have been saying that New Delhi is ready to fund a reconstruction plan for Nepal on the basis of discussions with the new leadership.
