dated June 3, 1956: Elections in Egypt

Lt.-Col. Gamel Abdel Nasser, Egyptian Prime Minister, announced in Cairo on June 1 that on June 23 the Revolution Command Council, the ruling junta, would dissolve itself after nominating one of its members for the Presidency. It is known the Council will nominate Col. Nasser as President. Already, "Nasser for President" posters are being pasted up throughout the country.
