LJP to protest against Nitish Kumar Government

Paswan criticises State Government for its ``failure on all fronts''

  • `The NDA regime is no better than its predecessor'
  • The LJP to hold rally in Patna on August nine
  • The State Government accused of having failed to fulfil its promise of appointing 25,000 primary school teachers and 10,000 Urdu teachers

PATNA: Criticising Bihar's NDA Government for its ``failure on all fronts'', Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Friday announced his Lok Janshakti party would launch a protest against it on August nine.

Alleging that the State Government has failed to check crime, ensure adequate power and water supply and address other issues of public concern, Mr Paswan told reporters, ``LJP had welcomed the change in the Government and given Chief Minister Nitish Kumar six months to show results, but it failed miserably.

``The NDA regime is no better than its predecessor and we will highlight its failure on August nine,'' he said.

The LJP will hold a rally in Patna on that day and its workers will stage sit-ins and demonstrations at all district headquarters.

``More than 2,000 people have been killed in the past six months and many more were kidnapped. The NDA Government has failed to keep its election promise of making Bihar crime-free within three months of coming to power,'' Mr Paswan alleged.

He also accused the State Government of having failed to fulfil its promise of appointing 25,000 primary school teachers and 10,000 Urdu teachers.

``The Government had assured it would create employment to check the flight of labourers to other states. But the employment programmes are plagued by corruption and the poor are still shifting to rich states like Punjab and Haryana in large numbers in search of a livelihood,'' he said.

    Lalu Prasad

Asked whether he would share a platform with his bete noire Lalu Prasad to launch an agitation against the NDA Government as he did in Uttar Pradesh against Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mr Paswan replied in the negative. -PTI
