TOUCHING GESTURE: Minister for Commercial Taxes Konathala Ramakrishna and Visakha-I MLA Dronamraju Srinivas consoling the mother of one of the fishermen who suffered serious burns, at the KGH.
VISAKHAPATNAM: The State Government would extend help to the families of the two fishermen missing in the fire accident on a fishing boat and take care of the treatment of the injured, Commercial Taxes Minister Konathala Ramakrishna said here on Friday. Mr. Ramakrishna, along with MLAs Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao and Gandi Babji, called on the four injured fishermen undergoing treatment in the Burns Ward of King George Hospital here. He inquired about the accident and the treatment being given to them. He consoled the families of missing fishermen, Ganagalla Tavitayya and Surni Sanyasi. Efforts would be made to trace the missing fishermen, he said.
Ex gratia demanded
The CPI (M) district committee while condoling the death of Tavitayya and Sanyasi in the accident, demanded the Government to release Rs. 3 lakhs each as ex gratia to their families and Rs. 1 lakh each to the injured ishermen. CPI (M) leaders V.S. Padmanabha Raju, K. Lokanatham, Md. Salim and leader of the Matsya Karmika Sangham, D. Krishna, called on the injured in the KGH. Mr. Padmanabha Raju said that the Government had always neglected the fishermen and failed to come to their rescue when they met with accidents while fishing.
