Intelenet's new Chennai centre starts operations

Will focus on banking and financial verticals


  • Plans to increase headcount to 1,000 by the year-end
  • Proposes another centre in Chennai

    CHENNAI: Intelenet Global Services, an equal joint venture business process outsourcing company between HDFC and Barclays, has set up a 50,000 sq. ft. 700-seater delivery centre at the Ascendas IT Park in Taramani here. The Rs. 25-crore facility will focus on providing back-office processing services to global clients in the banking and financial services verticals.

    With the new centre going on stream, all existing employees of Intelenet Global here will be moved to the new centre.

    The company commenced its Chennai operations a year ago. It plans to increase the headcount to 1,000 from 400 by the year-end.

    Addressing a press conference here recently, Susir Kumar, CEO, Intelenet, said the company was in the process of finalising a site for locating another centre in Chennai with a similar seating capacity and investment.

    15 global clients

    With over 9,500 employees, Intelenet currently handles over 60 million calls and processes 17 million transactions annually for 15 global clients.
