VIJAYAWADA: Union Minister of State for Mines T. Subbarami Reddy, who is also chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), laid foundation stone for a kalyana mandapam to be constructed by the TTD at Hanuman Junction, some 50 km from here, on Saturday. The TTD would construct the building at an estimated cost of Rs. 50 lakhs. Referring to TTD's activities, Mr. Reddy said that plans were afoot to disburse Rs. 2,000 per month to those temples in the State, which had no resources for even daily rituals. He said kalyana mandapams would be constructed at Gannavaram, Agiripalli and Chinnapuram in the district soon. Following a request from the local leaders, Mr. Reddy announced a contribution of Rs. 15 lakhs from his MP local area development fund for construction of an indoor stadium at Hanuman Junction, besides donating Rs. 2 lakhs to the Hanuman temple.
