ALAPPUZHA : The People's Democratic Party (PDP) State leadership camp will be held in Pathanamthitta on June 24 and 25, party State working chairman Poonthura Siraj has said. At a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Siraj said as many as 1,500 persons would attend the camp in which office-bearers of the party from the Assembly constituency level to the State committee would participate. He said the camp was being organised as a part of the resolve of the PDP to strengthen its activities in the State. On the issue of release of PDP leader Abdul Nasir Maudany, Mr. Siraj said the PDP was hopeful that the LDF Government would do all help within the laws of the country to get Mr. Maudany released from jail. Mr. Siraj said there was no point in expecting Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan to perform wonders just after he assumed power. Commenting on the recent developments in the State unit of the IUML after the last Assembly elections, Mr. Siraj said there was no point in blaming IUML leader P.K. Kunhalikutty alone for the dismal performance of the IUML in the election. Other leaders of that party who enjoyed the fruits of power along with Mr. Kunhalikutty were also responsible for the plight, he said.
Supported extended
Mr. Siraj offered wholehearted support of the PDP to the agitations being organised by the Kerala Union of Working Journalists for constituting a new wage board for journalists.
