Naidu owes explanation to people, says Kanna

TDP chief charged with pushing State into debt trap

  • Says Naidu borrowed Rs. 57,000 crores from World Bank
  • Received 51 lakh tonnes of rice from the Centre
  • Yet, approached RBI for overdraft every year

    VIZIANAGARAM : Minister for Transport and Cooperation Kanna Laxminarayana has said that TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu owes an explanation to the people for pushing the State into a debt trap.

    Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Laxminarayana said soon after usurping power in 1995, Mr. Naidu diluted the Rs. 2-a-kg rice scheme and total prohibition and increased the power tariff of per horse power pumpsets from Rs. 50 to Rs. 300 and levied taxes to the tune of Rs. 8,000 crores during his nine-year rule.
