dated June 5, 1956: Vinoba ends fast

Acharya Vinoba Bhave broke his three-day fast at Kancheepuram at 8-20 a.m. on June 4 by taking four ounces of coconut water. He was scheduled to break his fast at 8 a.m. but the 20-minute delay occurred because Vinobaji waited for the bhajan to finish and broke his fast after addressing the large number of people who had gathered there. Bhajans in eight Indian languages were sung. Vinobaji was lying on his cot under the mango tree near his cottage. At five minutes to eight, he sat on his bed, and listened to the last song, Vaishnava Janatho.
